Why Cerloq One is genuinely different.

Existing smart-home devices monitor and alert. Cerloq acts on the room's real occupancy, sensed on-device — and the AC bill is where you feel the difference first. Here's the technical foundation that makes savings repeatable, and why competitors can't ship the same thing via firmware update.

01 · Curated AC preset library

200+ AC models. Pick one. Done.

Choose your AC from a library of 200+ models across 39 brands. Five role presets — off, plus energy-saving and comfort levels for both cooling and heating — install in seconds. The catalogue lives on the backend, so new coverage rolls out without a firmware update.

02 · IR capture-and-replay

Any remote. Any appliance. One press.

Not in the library? Point any IR remote at Cerloq, press the button, name it. Up to ten free-form signals — AC, ceiling fans, projectors, blinds — replayed on demand from the app, from anywhere.

03 · Occupancy state machine

The device knows the room, not the calendar.

Nothing to connect. The radar takes ~10 minutes to be sure the room is empty; the AC drops to eco ~15 minutes later — once the device can tell the AC is actually running — and switches off after ~30 more. When the guest returns, the device stands down: it never switches the AC on or toward comfort by itself.

04 · ROI calculation methodology

Honest savings, not marketing math.

Cerloq measures avoided runtime — your AC was verifiably running, the room was empty, it switched it off — and logs each interval with a start and end. It under-claims by design. Euro figures are estimates from your tariff unless you fit the optional clamp meter, which turns the same hours into measured kWh.

Evidence base

Anchored to peer-reviewed field studies.

Our savings figures aren't marketing math. The headline claim — 17–30% HVAC reduction with occupancy-aware control — is the convergent field median from four independent peer-reviewed studies (Pang et al. 2021, US DOE/PNNL 2012, Building and Environment 2024, Applied Energy 2021), backed by a 64,000-room-night behavioural baseline from SensorFlow. The ROI calculator defaults to a conservative 22% mid-range.

Year 1 is roughly break-even at the conservative end of the literature; Year 2+ is net positive at every credible savings level.

Privacy + security

What Cerloq does not collect.

No microphone. Ever.

There is no microphone in the device. The roadmap smoke-alarm relay uses a tuned hardware resonator that is physically incapable of capturing speech — it can only recognise the standardized T3 alarm cadence.

No camera. Ever.

We use 24 GHz mmWave radar for occupancy — it detects breathing motion through clothing without imaging. No video data is collected, transmitted, or stored.

Per-device authentication.

Each Cerloq One ships with a unique X.509 client certificate burnt into NVS at the factory. Compromising one device does not compromise the fleet.

Your data stays in the EU.

Our backend runs in Google Cloud's europe-west4 region (Netherlands). Telemetry and savings intervals are processed and stored in the EU only. GDPR-compliant by default.
