Terms of service.

The contract governing the use of Cerloq One devices and the Cerloq cloud service.

Effective date: the Cerloq One launch · Last updated: 17 October 2026

1. Acceptance

By ordering a Cerloq One device, creating an account, or installing the device on your property, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, return the device within 30 days for a full refund.

2. The product

"Cerloq One" is the hardware device. "Cerloq" is the cloud service that pairs with it. The hardware is yours after purchase; the cloud service is provided under subscription (Starter free; Pro and Property Manager paid).

3. Subscription + cancellation

Pro and Property Manager are billed yearly, from the day the device first connects. You can cancel anytime in the app; cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid year. After cancellation, the device falls back to the free Starter plan and keeps working: only the paid plan’s features (savings in euros, mould protection, the AC health check, the portfolio tools, the longer history) stop.

4. Hardware warranty

We warrant the hardware for 2 years from delivery against manufacturing defects. EU statutory consumer law (2 years) applies in addition. We will repair or replace any unit that fails due to defect at no charge. Write to us through the contact page with your order number to start a return.

5. 30-day money-back guarantee

If you're not satisfied within 30 days of delivery, return the device for a full refund. We pay return shipping for EU orders. Subscription charges are pro-rated and refunded.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the device or service for any illegal purpose.
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer the cloud authentication system or impersonate other accounts.
  • Use intrusion alerts (which only work while you have armed anti-theft) as a substitute for professional security where regulated security services are required (see section 7).
  • Use the smoke alarm relay (a roadmap feature) as a substitute for a certified smoke alarm — Cerloq extends, never replaces, a real smoke alarm.

7. Intrusion alerts are not an alarm system

Intrusion alerts are an add-on to Cerloq One, not a certified alarm or security system. Nobody monitors them, and they depend on power, Wi-Fi, the internet and your phone: an alert can arrive late or not at all, and the radar can miss someone or react to something that is not a person. Don’t rely on them alone to protect people or property, or where your insurer or the law asks for a certified alarm system.

8. Service availability

We target 99.5 % monthly uptime. We don't promise zero downtime. If an intrusion alert cannot be delivered due to our outage, we'll credit the affected billing month — but you understand this is a connected device, and connectivity isn't guaranteed.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising from your use of Cerloq is limited to the amounts you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential damages (lost rental income, property damage from undetected events, etc.). This limitation does not apply to gross negligence or willful misconduct.

10. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your account for material breach of these terms (e.g. fraud, payment failure exceeding 30 days, illegal use). We'll give you 14 days' notice except in cases of fraud or legal compulsion. On termination you keep the hardware; cloud features become unavailable.

11. Changes

We may update these terms. Material changes get 30 days' email notice. Continued use after that constitutes acceptance.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of the Netherlands. Disputes go to the competent court in Amsterdam, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protection in your country of residence.
